Sad, because the thing that made Jessica Jones, Daredevil and Luke Cage so great on Netflix, WAS the dark, grit and gore – which set it so far apart from the MCU (which was often campy by comparison).
The Netflix productions made the shows believable, emotional, realistic and human – you could relate to many things the characters were experiencing, and could be horrified along with them. Every MCU production I’ve watched has been fun, but fantastical.
I’d like to hope that the folks getting mad and planning to not watch it on Disney+ were being honest, but they still will in the end. This is just their opportunity to act like teenagers again before it airs.
I find all the gore and over the top violence really boring. I prefer well-developed characters and compelling stories. The violence just feels like gratuitous filler. I found myself saying “okay, I get it. Everyone on the show is violent. Just get it over with so we can get on with the story.” I also fast forwarded through a lot of the violent scenes, because they waste my time. I might actually enjoy Daredevil this time around.
