I always thought a great villian had understandable goals. Thats what makes them great and able to amass supporters. You can understand their motivations. The Thanos was right movement wasnt a “problem” it was the evidence of storytelling success. We all recognized some merit, and continue to discuss this to this day.
Who didn’t timidly nod when Agent Smith was talking about the plague that is humanity (The Matrix); or when the Devil spoke about his problem with God (The Devil’s Advocate)? Villains making sense is their dangerous allure.
Well, let’s be honest. Thanos’ logic was wrong. Given the reality stone, he could have simply provided more than enough new resources for everyone, rather than halving their populations-a temporary solution by any estimate.
