If Nobody has considered giving Mel Gibson even a little cameo as a nod to the name of the Franchise, then in my opinion they are seriously missing a trick. They could very easily write something in to cover him, even if it was just a brief flash to Max finally settling down in that lovely green place beyond the thunderdome….
People are complaining but Mel Gibson probably doesn’t even want to play the role. If an actor doesn’t want to play a role you don’t try to force them because fans want it.
