Only network studio heads, motivated purely by what they *think* sells, would take a show set in the future about exploring space and strange new worlds and then continuously keep setting new shows and films in the PAST because they think that’s what people want to see and will pay money for.
I don’t have a problem with seeing it. I just think it deserves more than a couple of hours’ worth of storytelling.
Boy, how are they supposed to cash out then?
It’s a sign of oversaturation. The franchise is eating itself instead of creating new, unexpected, interesting concepts.
The worst thing ever is that the powers that be, will rewrite the original history (once again) and implant new mammary glands hoping fans will gaulk.
so its a prequel to the “Nu-Trek” movies? interesting.
Indifference is not debate. Absolutely no interest on this extremely redundant film.
In the beginning, there were Talosians and Short Skirts. There… first 20 minutes scripted.
Prequels in general are unnecessary. I can’t imagine THAT many fans clamor for backstory on SO many characters.
coudlve given us a capt april story.
I’ve never been into Star Trek. I find this interesting, though.
Edit: I see the Star Wars franchise isn’t alone. However, Trekkie reactions seem far more civilized. Granted, I don’t hang out in Trekkie spaces often.
It seems all fandoms have a similar issue. Entitlement. Fans never seem to consider anything outside of what they want.
They don’t care that people actually are making a living entertaining us. They don’t think about studios losing millions of dollars on other failed projects and having to gamble more millions on another.
Fans think it’s ALL ABOUT THEM‼️ Let them tell it, studios should focus all their content on pleasing them, and ONLY THEM!
Fan culture is infected with entitlement. Honestly, modern society as a whole seems to believe their entitled to all sorts of nonsense.
THE ONLY ONE SINGLE THING WE ALL ARE ENTITLED TO IS DEATH‼️
They’re using the prequel universe to redefine what Star Trek is today. Another hijacked franchise. The coffers of creativity are apparently empty in the entertainment industry.
Pointless. *sighs*
Agreed! Move forward, not backward.
I’m guessing they are going backwards is because the next step in Star Trek moving forward after Picard is we become gods. Holopeople walk about, so anything is possible. It got too advanced too fast.
I like Strange New Worlds, of the new era Star Trek. Because we know Enterprise had several years under different captains, before its most famous captain of all, it’s an interesting time to tell stories.
